- Ibn Shemtov, Joseph ben Shemtov
(c.1400-c.1460)
Spanish philosopher. He served in the Castilian court of King John II and his successor Henry IV. In 1452 he was sent to Segovia to suppress an anti-Semitic movement. Later he wandered around the country giving lectures. His Kevod Elohim is a theological study which seeks to find a compromise between Maimonides and the anti-philosophical views of contemporary Jewish scholars.
